The 2018 Korea Open Women’s Singles title has been awarded to Zhu Yuling after the Chinese star accounted for fellow countrywoman Chen Meng at the final hurdle in Daejeon.

Seeded second for the tournament Zhu Yuling was on paper the slight underdog heading into the final with opponent Chen Meng occupying the top seeded position, so the outcome comes somewhat against expectations.

Very little separated the two finalists at the start of the tie with Zhu Yuling and Chen Meng winning one game apiece come the conclusion of the opening two games.

However, Zhu Yuling took her game up a level from that point on, claiming the next three ends in a row to achieve glory (11-4, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-9).

Zhu Yuling now holds five ITTF World Tour Women’s Singles titles to her name while Chen Meng settles for her third runner up finish in 11 finals.
