China has once again captured both singles titles at an ITTF World Tour event with successful outings from Xu Xin and Sun Yingsha at the 2019 ITTF Australian Open in Geelong.

Perhaps the most impressive show of strength in Geelong was from Sun Yingsha: The 18-year-old managed to win yet another Women’s Singles, adding to her title success from the 2019 Japan Open.

Sun dropped a staggeringly low amount of games (three) en route to the final where she met her Chinese counterpart, the remarkable Ding Ning.

However, Ding Ning seemed far from being in the match right from the start, losing the very first game by a 10 point margin! Sun Yingsha then went on to win the next three games, taking the title with a straight games victory (11-1, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9).

In the Men’s Singles, 2019 Japan Open and 2019 Korea Open champion Xu Xin added another trophy to his cabinet, after seeing off the highly talented 19 year-old Chinese left-hander Wang Chuqin in another 4-0 victory (11-6, 11-8, 11-4, 11-8).

But, it wasn’t all fun-and-games for Xu Xin as Germany’s Patrick Franziska proved a difficult test in the semi-finals. Sadly for Germany, European hopes of defeating China were dashed when Xu Xin clinched the deciding game in a full distance affair to seal the win (11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 6-11, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10).
