Less than a month after the so-called “Cloud Walker”, Xu Xin, achieved success at the 2019 Japan Open, it was yet another unbeaten-streak at the 2019 Korea Open in Busan for the 29 year-old from China!

Having beaten his Chinese counterpart, Liang Jingkun, World No.6, in a rather tight Semi-Finals, the second seed met yet another team-mate in the Final stage; none other than the illustrious Ma Long.

Xu Xin and Ma Long – the latter having seen off the host nation’s favourite, Jeoung Youngsik with a reasonably comfortable 4-1 victory – went all-out for the title. However, in contrast to previous head-to-head results it was Xu Xin, who was crowned Korea Open Men’s Singles Champion, after a seemingly short conquest of 4-1 games (7-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8).

“Winning the title is not the reason I am feeling happy. I am happy because I beat Ma Long.” – Xu Xin

Over in the Women’s Singles it was an all Chinese final yet again, with the match-up of Chen Meng and Ding Ning. Again age was no obstacle with the younger player seeing off the three-time World Champion in a seven-game thriller (11-5, 11-6, 11-5, 7-11, 11-9).

All in all, another successful tournament for Team China!
