The Men’s Singles title on offer at the 2017 Polish Open has been won by Quadri Aruna, who sets another record in the process.

Quadri Aruna becomes the first Nigerian player to win a Men’s Singles gold medal at an ITTF Challenge Series event, and is only the second African competitor to have achieved success in the category.

Seeded first for the 2017 Polish Open, Quadri Aruna was the player to beat in Czestochowa but ultimately proved too strong for the rest of the field.

Opposing the Nigerian in the final was the unseeded Japanese representative Kaii Yoshida who had enjoyed somewhat of a spectacular campaign in Poland by negotiating two days of qualification action and all five of his main draw fixtures ahead of the gold medal contest.

However, the dream of claiming the title evaded Kaii Yoshida as top seed Quadri Aruna powered to a six games victory (11-7, 11-13, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8, 14-12).
