Ma Long has added another trophy to his collection after emerging as the clear winner at the 2018 China Open.

The World and Olympic Champion accounted for top seed and current World No.1 Fan Zhendong in a highly entertaining all-Chinese Men’s Singles final in Shenzhen.

Only on one previous occasion had Fan Zhendong managed to get the better of his fellow compatriot on the international stage but he started strongly in Shenzhen, claiming the opening game by a four point margin to gain the early momentum in the title match.

However, Ma Long was quite simply superb in his response with the next four ends going to the No.5 seed (7-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-3, 14-12).

Ma Long has now won seven Men’s Singles gold medals at the China Open, bringing his overall tally to 26 singles titles on the ITTF World Tour and now trails the all-time leader from Belarus, Vladimir Samsonov by just one.
