Mima Ito has won her first ITTF Challenge Series gold medal of the year, following a terrific outing at the 2017 Polish Open in Czestochowa.

Competing in the Women’s Singles event as the top seeded player Japan’s Mima Ito was the early favourite to claim the trophy, and lived up to expectations with a fine performance in the final.

Taking on the seventh seed and fellow compatriot Saki Shibata in the title match, Mima Ito required just five games to seal the victory (11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 13-11, 12-10), deservedly receiving the gold medal.

While success in Czestochowa marked the first Challenge Series Women’s Singles trophy of the year for Mima Ito, the Japanese teenage ace recently emerged victorious on the ITTF World Tour at the 2017 Czech Open held in August.

The next stop on the ITTF Challenge Series is the 2017 Belgium Open set to take place from Tuesday 31st October to Saturday 4th November.
