Local spectators in Daejeon had cause for celebration after South Korea’s very own Jang Woojin came away with the Men’s Singles title at the 2018 Korea Open.

In the final Jang Woojin displayed great confidence in his game and with the backing of the home crowd he saw off Chinese opponent Liang Jingkun without dropping an end (11-8, 11-9, 11-7, 11-3).

Success in Daejeon means that Jang Woojin now has two ITTF World Tour Men’s Singles trophies to his name and the South Korean made history in the process.

Alongside his Men’s Singles win, Jang Woojin also picked up a gold medal in the Men’s Doubles category with Lim Jonghoon and the Mixed Doubles title with North Korea’s Cha Hyo Sim to become the first player to leave an ITTF World Tour event with a triple crown.
