Disappointing news to bring to your attention with confirmed cancellation of the 2020 ITTF World Tour events in Czech Republic and Hong Kong.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has officially announced that the Czech Open, an event that belongs to the prestigious ITTF World Tour series, has been cancelled due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place between 25th–30th August 2020 in Olomouc.

To add to the disappointing news for fans of the sport, all hopes for the 2020 ITTF World Tour Hong Kong Open (which had been provisionally postponed since May) have now been thrown out the window, with the ITTF confirming that it would be impossible to hold the event in 2020 because of the ongoing travel restrictions.

ITTF has placed on record its thanks to both organising committees for working hard on event preparation and states that it will continue to explore options for alternative events to be held towards the end of the year.

However, one begins to wonder when we will get to see the top professional players play at another ITTF World Tour event, especially with the cancellation of the Czech and Hong Kong Opens.

Sadly, it seems Table Tennis fans will have to continue waiting patiently for World Tour action to resume.
