Dejan Papic will take over as the new head coach of the Indian national table tennis team after agreeing a contract until the close of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

An experienced coach at international level, Dejan Papic formerly coached the Qatar and Canadian national teams and now will try his luck in charge of the Indian men’s and women’s teams.

The news will be greatly welcomed by the country’s table tennis stars who have been keen to bring in a new head coach for some time following Massimo Costantini’s departure from the role last year.

Under Massimo Costantini’s reign India achieved many great feats including medal winning outings on the Commonwealth Games stage and a significant rise up the world rankings table – It is understood that Costantini recommended Papic for the job.

Papic will begin his new role at next month’s 2019 World Table Tennis Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
