Dimitrij Ovtcharov won’t be seen in action at the 2018 ITTF World Tour China Open next week after his withdrawal from the event was confirmed.

The German star, who was looking to defend his Men’s Singles title in Shenzhen, has been struggling for fitness throughout the course of 2018 so far and his absence at the upcoming China Open is once again down to injury concerns.

Originating in February of this year at the 2018 ITTF Team World Cup, Ovtcharov’s fitness problems continued into the 2018 Qatar Open which he ended up missing.

Then, competing in front of his home fans, Ovtcharov was forced to pull out his match against Patrick Franziska at the the 2018 German Open and the issues were still present at the recent 2018 World Team Championships.

SD Sport wishes Dimitrij Ovtcharov a speedy recovery.
