Anton Kallberg has won his first Men’s Singles title at an ITTF Challenge Series event after coming away with the trophy at the 2019 Croatia Open in Zagreb.

The 21-year-old Swedish star entered the tournament as the lowest seeded player in the men’s singles category at No.32 but overcame all the odds to lift the trophy.

At the final hurdle Anton Kallberg produced a fine display, needing just five games to see off second seed Kristian Karlsson in an all-Swedish title contest (11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-5).

Seeded 19th for the Women’s Singles draw Japan’s Miyuu Kihara was another surprise title winner in Zagreb.

Taking on fellow compatriot Miyu Kato in the gold medal match, Miyuu Kihara held the edge against the No.5 seed in a seven game thriller (13-11, 11-6, 8-11, 8-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-8).

Miyuu Kihara claims her first singles gold at an ITTF Challenge Series event, becoming the second-youngest Women’s Singles champion at an ITTF Senior level competition in the process.
