Sweden’s Kristian Karlsson has big hopes for the upcoming 2018 Europe Top 16 Cup competition taking place in Montreux, Switzerland from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th February.

Two years ago when the event was staged in Gondomar, Portugal Kristian Karlsson defied the odds to secure a fourth position finish and is hoping for a similar outcome in Montreux.

“My goal is to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. We had a great start to the year winning the German Cup so I hope to keep my shape from that event. I feel I have a good chance to repeat the success from 2016.” – Kristian Karlsson.

Last year at the tournament Karlsson failed to negotiate the group stage of the Men’s Singles category, finishing 13th overall in Antibes.

World No.22 Karlsson believes that German stars Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll will be the main contenders for the title at the tournament but is confident that Sweden can spring a surprise.

“Favorites have to be Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov. I hope me and my countryman Mattias Karlsson can upset the seeding a bit!” – Kristian Karlsson.
