Feng Tianwei faced fellow Singaporean compatriot Zhou Yihan in the Women’s Singles final, and despite falling behind in the early stages of the match it was the former of the two players who emerged victorious from the tie (9-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 13-11) to receive her third gold medal in the category at the SEA Games.

“Both of us played very well, it was very competitive and exciting” said Feng Tianwei after the conclusion of the final. “It wasn’t easy to play against her. She’s made a lot of improvement and there’s not much of a gap between us. That’s why the scores were so tight during the match, so I had to fight very hard for all the points.”

The Men’s Singles final was also an all-Singaporean contest as Gao Ning took on Clarence Chew.

Gao Ning entered the tournament as the defending champion having succeeded in the Men’s Singles event at the previous edition of the SEA Games, and he has triumphed once again beating Clarence Chew in five ends (5-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6).
